I have long held that karma and synchronicity are instruments that need fine-tuning and sufficient time to gel, if they are to create a symphony in your life...
Pulling too many strings, while beating too many drums, creates a cacophony that drowns out good intentions, and often leaves you misconducting the good deeds, that were meant to be a welcome melody to your intended beneficiary/ies, to a vague "oh, thanks", as you rush past each other.
I have, at last, had sufficient time and independence over recent months to better orchestrate my actions - and my will.
Leaving the corporate world and focusing my attentions on what I really want to do every day, has created immense new energy and flow in my life.
Amid the haunting fragrance of forget-me-nots and the invariable discomfort of the winds of change, I have weaved my way - MY WAY, and I'm still smiling, broadly.
Entrepreneurship comes with its own brand of much-documented angst. But I have spent so many years being involved in the setting up SMME networking clubs and support structures, and listening to the myriad of tales of woe and warning, that it feels that every stage in this journey is anticipated - and thus, in step with what I expected.
Always less scary for a lady who likes to know and direct :) [the label control freak is so old-school!]
Today, I had my most sincere taste of karma and synchronicity to date, and from the most surprising of quarters.
See, amid the freelancing and new business drive, I allowed for my own passion to be applied in the intervening hours (mostly very late-night!)
So I wanted to spend my free time doing charity / pro bono / goodwill work and I decided to do this through Heartlines' Forgood Foundation.
Long story short, I devised a strategy, wrote a media release and interview motivation, and reached out to the press on behalf of Africa Works - a Rays of Hope NGO that teaches the unemployed folk of our beleaguered neighbouring Alexandra township how to sew, weave and perform artisan tasks.
So here's the thing: two weeks ago, I was at an Argentinean Club Fete with family (as our roots hail from South America on me dad's side).
It started pelting down with rain while we were dancing to Spanish Christmas folk music, and in the rush to find shelter (i.e. our cars), I stuffed my daughter's sticky pudding container into my handbag... on top of the mobile lifeline (I'd only find out around midnight upon arriving home)!
Being the digital beast that I've become, tiredness was overcome by a desperate need to wipe, shake and pray the phone into a state of amnesia!
It was fine, at first. But slowly and very surely the microphone started fading, so much so that I was shouting at prospective clients on the phone (who could hear me only too well), while I had to decipher their work offers from what felt like ten leagues underwater - and try to laugh and agree at the estimated right moments!
I was stressed. The last thing a fledgling entrepreneur needs, is a broken phone, connectivity or - lo and behold - computer. I was counting the days... Then, guess what?
This afternoon, I receive a mail from Forgood informing me, ever so casually, that I had WON the monthly volunteer draw. And I'd be receiving - YUP! - a new Samsung smartphone (I wasn't feeling 'the love' with my Blackberry of late in any event, but THIS?)
So. Some job I expected nothing from (but have always loved to do) paid off!
It may be a small thing to most. But to me, it's a confirmation that I'm on the right karmic path to synchronicity.
Powerful stuff!

I Admit
